Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD)

The Mission Statement: “We help people with developmental disabilities live richer lives”. The New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) is responsible for coordinating services for more than 128,000 New Yorkers with developmental disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, Cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, Autism spectrum disorders, and other neurological impairments. It provides services directly and through a network of approximately 750 nonprofit service providing agencies, with about 80 percent of services provided by the private nonprofits and 20 percent provided by state-run services.

Self-Advocacy Association of New York State (SANYS)

The Self-Advocacy Association of New York State, Inc. (SANYS) is a not-for profit, grassroots organization run by and for people with developmental disabilities. Our goal is to help create a person-centered and person-directed system of supports. To further this goal, the SANYS executive board supports self-advocates and self-advocacy groups regionally and statewide. SANYS encourages them to speak for themselves individually and collectively.

InterAgency Council (IAC)

The InterAgency Council of Developmental Disabilities Agencies, Inc. (IAC), with over 150 members, is the largest provider association in New York for non-profit agencies that support individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

New York Disability Advocates (NYDA)

New York Disability Advocates (NYDA) is a statewide coalition of more than 300 non-profit organizations providing vital services and support to more than 125,000 New Yorkers with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Across the state, these organizations provide comprehensive and individualized services and programs that support people with developmental disabilities in all areas of their lives—from physical and behavioral health services, to cooking and feeding, to creating meaningful employment opportunities.

This is a great website for Autism resources and updates. Autism Speaks has grown into the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.

LIFEPlan CCO NY

One of seven New York State Care Coordination Organizations initiated in 2018, LIFEPlan CCO NY is centered on one goal – connecting people to the complete spectrum of services they need to live full, meaningful lives.
LIFEPlan is a Care Coordination Organization (CCO), formed in 2018 along with six other CCO’s in New York State to meet the needs of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by collaborating with service providers through a Health Home model. CCOs are staffed by Care Managers with training and experience in the field of developmental disabilities.
